In 2014 we expanded with a Prepared Food Annex to our El Cerrito location. The Annex offers the neighborhood fair trade coffee, fresh juices, organic deli foods & baked goods, sustainable wine & beer, artisan cheese, salads, hot soups, and more.
In 2002, The Natural Grocery Company became an employee-owned . The following year, a group of staff at Berkeley Natural Grocery initiated a “People Want to Know” campaign to connect customers, retailers, and manufactures for information on GMO practices. From our staff’s actions the Non-GMO Project was born. Non-GMO verified is currently the fastest growing label. We are proud to help increase demand and availability for organic, non-GMO, and local foods.
