July 13, 2026 by The Natural Grocery Company

Join us at The Annex on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm to meet winemaker, Luke Nio of Kivelstadt Cellars! He will be pouring several wines and will be on hand to talk about them. There is a $5 tasting fee, and you must be 21+ to participate.

Kivelstadt Cellars

Organic farming, Minimal intervention, Approachability

Jordan Kivelstadt founded Kivelstadt Cellars in 2007 when he made 125 cases of Syrah from his family’s estate in Bennett Valley. Jordan has spent more than 15 years making wine around the world, to help define Kivelstadt’s mission. He shares the same mission of respecting the land and viticulture that carries through in their winemaking practices.

At Kivelstadt, they pride themselves on sourcing grapes from unique, historic, and organic vineyards.

Winemaker Luke Nio is a Sonoma County local and 2011 graduate of UC Davis with a BS in Viticulture & Enology. Upon delving into the winemaking scene across the world, Luke’s recently found his home at Kivelstadt Cellars. His passion for expressions not only of terroir, but of true varietal characteristics of each grape, allows him to create clean, age-worth wines, that lend a hand to unique techniques, and rare varietals.

The Annex Sessions: Chris Trinidad’s Chroma Tonic – Wednesday, July 1, 2026

June 18, 2026 by The Natural Grocery Company

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, 6-8:30pm “The Annex Sessions” music series will continue at The Annex (El Cerrito Natural Grocery Company Prepared Food Annex), 10387 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito with

Chris Trinidad’s Chroma Tonic

Naima Shalhoub: vocals, synthesizer

Alex Heigl: guitar

Cy Thompson: percussion

Scott Oshiro: flute

Chris Trinidad: bass guitar, synth bass

Drawing inspiration from ambient music pioneers Brian Eno and Robert Fripp, the late sixties avant-garde space psychedelia of Pink Floyd, the progressive improvised electronic rock of King Crimson’s ProjeKcts series, the adventurous electric hybrid experimentations of early seventies Miles Davis, the aim of this group is to blend these explorations with the unique musical sensibilities of the players.  Naima Shalhoub provides vocal and synthesizer textures, Alex Heigl plays ambient and looped guitars, Cy Thompson brings an array of Afro-Caribbean percussive elements, Scott Oshiro performs on flute and programs the quantum (!) electronic improvised live interactions, while bandleader Chris Trinidad keeps things buoyant on bass guitar and synth bass.

Their self-titled debut album is now available on Iridium Records via Bandcamp!

Mini Wine Tasting: Bistue Cellars – Thursday, June 25, 2026

June 16, 2026 by The Natural Grocery Company

Mini Wine Tasting, Thursday, June 25, 2026 between 5:00pm and 6:00pm at The Annex!

Carolina Bistué and Sebastian Bistué will be here to pour tastes and discuss their wines.

BISTUE Cellars was born out of passion for exploring different wine regions and creating uniquely remarkable wines. It all started in 2014 as a fun side project by winemaker Carolina Bistué and her family, but soon became a core part of the Bistué’s life and a way to keep experimenting, learning and falling in love with wine.

After earning her Masters in Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis, Carolina Bistué worked at La Perla del Priorat in D.O.Q. Priorat, Spain and at Paul Hobbs’ Viña Cobos in Mendoza, Argentina as part of their winemaking teams. Carolina believes in minimal-intervention winemaking and that great wines start in the vineyard. The care of the vines should focus on allowing them to express their terroir.

“We carefully select our vineyards based on the ideal location for each grape varietal and the style of wine that we want to achieve.”

– Carolina Bistué, Winemaker –

There is a small tasting fee of $5 and you must be 21+ to participate.
